Back to School: Unexpected College Apartment Essentials

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

If it isn’t clear (which it probably isn’t), I am a college student and unfortunately it’s just about that time to be going back for the year.

This year though, instead of a dorm, I’ll be moving into an apartment! So instead of giving you guys my apartment essentials, I thought I would bring you a post on ‘unexpected’ apartment essentials. So basically this is all of the things I never would have dreamed of needing, and hopefully for those of you also moving into an apartment for the first time, it may inspire and remind you that having a butter dish is probably pretty important.

Maybe some of this is obvious to all y’all, but my mind was blown when I realized I would need to buy a full sized trash can for the very first time. Like who would have even thought?? I also included some things such as a laundry basket with wheels which makes lugging weeks worth of clothes to the washers 10x easier (trust me, this one was a game changer for me), and packing a lunchbox because now that you might not be on a traditional meal plan, you never know when you’re going to want to eat and where!

Otherwise, I would love to for once keep this post short and to the point! Is there anything I’m missing? What are some of your unexpected essentials this back to school season? And if you want a longer post explaining why I think things like a key holder (right at the door, because I lose literally everything in 0.5 seconds) is necessary, let me know!

Let me know if you guys liked this post because I can’t wait to start rolling out some more college content soon! But..

Until next time,

Broadway Babies: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

On this week’s edition of Manhattan Skye we are launching a new series (as if we don’t already have enough going on) with some Broadway!

I am fortunate enough to be able to see at least one show a year and, as a Broadway enthusiast, I always want to gush about it to someone that isn’t my mom.

That being said, I would LOVE to share my most recent experience with y’all: [Enter] Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

Okay so, ever since sometime last year I’ve been dying to see this show. If you don’t know, I have a habit of stalking the Hamilton theatre. So if something is different on that street, you better believe I’m going to notice. And one day, as I walked along, I noticed that the theatre across the street looked a little different. And oh boy was it my lucky day because the theatre was advertising that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory would be live and in action as of March 2017.

So of course I gushed about it to my mom and she agreed that this could be the show we got to see, and then we just made it happen.

Now, I work for a man in the city and on days that I go into the office, I would pass by the theatre and the first time I noticed the outside, I about DIED. They transformed the entire outside to resemble iconic moments of the story. The walls were painted purple and signs littered the outside saying things like ‘Bad Nuts Refuse Chute’ and references to the Oompa Loompa employees.

Why mention this? Because I just love that the entire theatre seemed to get a makeover. I thought the decoration was really original and made the show seem even MORE fun than I already knew it would be. And of course since the Hamilton theatre is across the street, I think that it was really smart to make this show stand out against the ‘norm’ that was already there.

But anyyyywayyyys, many months after receiving the tickets as a Christmas present, was finally the day that I got to experience it all, and ugh, it was so worth it.

I will admit that I had some worries. Maybe it won’t be good, maybe it will be too geared towards a younger audience, etc.. etc.. But lucky for me, all of these worries turned out to be irrelevant within the first like five minutes, so as they say.. ‘On with the show!’

I don’t want to give too much away but I will say that Christian Borle as Willy Wonka was such a smart move. He is excellent. He captures Wonka practically perfect and that’s a lot to do considering those are some big shoes to fill.

Not only does he play the part very well, but I could listen to him sing for ages. It’s classic broadway if you know what I mean. Clean, crisp, and unmatched by anyone unless they’re in the industry as well.

The musical stayed very true to the original Willy Wonka as well as throwing in some of its own flare as well. They managed to make a classic very modern with some of the songs and dances, but still respected the storyline at hand.

It was a lot of fun to see how they would pull some of the fantasy elements off as well. Things like Violet blowing up into a blueberry and the infamous Oompa Loompas. It really made the show so fun and kept me wanting more.

As for the targeted audience. Yes. It is very geared towards children. The theatre was practically full of them. BUT they also catered a lot of the humor towards adults, so there was something there for everyone!

All in all, the show was one I was very glad to have seen. It truly made me smile the entire time and for 2 hours, I got to relive a very fond childhood story. AND if you’re looking to check more out about this musical, I would 100% recommend ‘It Must Be Believed to Be Seen’ and ‘Vidiots’. Ugh. SOOOOO good (:

But the real question is: Would I recommend? Answer: Definitely.

Check out some of the pictures I took that day of the theatre as well as a super quick OOTD below!

July ’17 Monthly Favorites

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

And we’re back with yet another monthly favorites! I’m 100% sure I say this every month, but I truly just canNOT believe how quickly this summer is flying on by. And for college girls like me, that is definitely NOT a good thing! Before I know it, my first exam of the semester will be rolling around the corner.. but I’m putting the cabosh on these thoughts for today.. only happy thoughts.. and more importantly FAVORITES!

Beauty

Alright so first up on the list is something I have already breifly talked about on the blog and that is the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Lip Scrub in Watermelon Gum.

Now I know that I compulsively ordered all three flavors of this but let me just tell y’all. There is NOTHING better than the watermelon flavor. Probably TMI, but I totally just take fingers full of this stuff and lick it just because I can. And I looooove it!

Aside from the smell and taste being the epitome of my childhood, it is also a genuinely wonderful product. If you haven’t read my initial thoughts on lip scrubs, I’ll give you a brief story time. The first lip scrub I ever used blew my lips up. Yeah, it wasn’t pretty. And so I basically swore off them up until this very summer. But, this product really exfoliates the lips (just like a lip scrub is supposed to do) and leaves them soft and ready for a fresh coat of liquid lip stick 😉

IMG_2868IMG_2869

Velour Lip Scrub

Now, usually nail polish probably wouldn’t make it into my favorites because I do my nails myself and normally don’t buy any new colors BUT my mom ordered some new shades and these two stole my heart, so here they are!

The first is a peachy, pink from OPI and it’s a new staple. I know you all are aware I’m so into pale pinks right now and this is adorable. It’s a little more muted and also can transition well right into fall so I’m super pleased with this one! I’ve had it on for a little over a week now and it’s still holding up pretty well, so I would definitely recommend checking this one out, it’s called ‘I’ll Have a Gin and Tectonic’!

The next is this really pretty navy blue that also has a more dusty twist. I love dark polishes so this is a no brainer for me! It’s also unlike anything I have in my collection, which is awesome considering I truly do own a LOT of nail polish. AAAANDDD, it holds up just like the previous one and is called ‘Less is Norse’!

Together, they make a great pair! See for yourself! (:

Fashion

Staying true to the last two monthly favorites I’ve done are a pair of shoes.. the Marc Fisher LTD – Marcia Espadrille Platform Sneakers.

First off, if you like these? Jump on them now. They are on super sale at Lord and Taylor and linked below!

Personally, I was drawn to these immediately because I do not own a pair of nude shoes AND I’ve been dying for a pair of platform like sneakers for months. The problem was I couldn’t commit to any plus the price tag is sometimes a little much, and girl, I don’t need another pair of shoes THAT bad (:

But theseeee are a totally different story! They look literally the cutest with a pair of black skinny jeans and a white t-shirt. The simplest outfit ever, but also one that is super chic depending on the styling and totally timeless!

The material that they are made of is a super soft suede and the metallic stars add a whole other level to the shoes. They’re literally perfect. And I love them. Not to mention actually comfortable. I wore them all day trucking around NYC a couple weeks ago and I had not one complaint at the end of the day about my feet hurting. I mean, if that doesn’t convince you, I don’t know what will!

IMG_2870IMG_2871IMG_2877IMG_2878

Music

Is anyone even surprised? Of course Lana Del Rey’s new album, ‘Lust for Life’, makes the list!

I love the relaxed vibe I get from all of Lana’s music. It’s the kind of thing that I can actually listen to in the car and NOT keep changing the song through because they’re ALL good!

Some of my favorites from the album include Love (like I die whenever I start to hear the ‘uh-uh, don’t call me baaaaabyyyyy’ any one else? No?), 13 Beaches, and Beautiful People Beautiful Problems.

I don’t have too much to say, because I think y’all should just listen for yourselves, but I promise it is a refreshing album to those that are unfamiliar with Lana’s music, but also a satisfying one for those that are. It’s a win-win, duh!

So basically, Lana, I’m ready for a New York show whenever you are! (:

Movies

And yet another one that y’all really shouldn’t be surprised about.. Dunkirk! And do we know whyyyyy we all shouldn’t be surprised?? Because if you guessed ‘Harry Styles’, *ding, ding ding* you are RIGHT!

So, I’m going to be totally honest and say that I haven’t seen the movie yet.. BUT I SWEAR I’M GOING TO! And it’s also already on my list of DVD’s to pre-order (Also, does anyone still order DVD’s, because if not, man do I feel lame).

I just know that I watched quite a few promotional videos for this movie as well as lots of interviews and trailers, and I can confidently say that I actually think this movie is a hit.

I know now that it is not just another war movie, but actually a movie that focuses on the ‘normal’ people of society as well, and how if we could all just forget about our differences, we could really band together and do something incredible. I’m also inspired by the fact that this is obviously not fiction and I think that it is amazing that this story is getting the opportunity it deserves to be told. It’s great!

Aside from all of that, I’m drooling at the thought of actually seeing Harry act. Obviously those few skits he did for SNL were just not enough to satiate this girl. But honestly? Is there ever enough Harry in the world for me? Probably not. (:

Food

Next up on the list of faves, is a new one. DUCK DONUTS! And yes, that had to be shouty capitals because it’s just. that. good.

Okay so if you are unfamiliar with Duck Donuts (like I was) it’s basically a made to order donut shop and it’s amaaaaazing!

You start out with just a fresh made vanilla donut and you are at liberty to pick the icing, drizzle, and/or topping you want. Now this includes a wide variety ranging from ‘normal’ to ‘weird’. For example, you might want to go classic with a chocolate iced donut and some sprinkles or you might want to go for my personal favorite, maple icing and bacon topping.

Okay, probably sounds totally gross, but here’s another brief story time. My boyfriend curled his cute little nose up when I ordered it and then it turns out to be one of his all time faves after the first bite. Yeah, like I said, they’re just. that. good.

Now aside from the choices basically being unlimited, the donut itself is perfection as well. Like I said the whole kit and caboodle is MADE TO ORDER, including the donuts! So they come out warm, moist, and borderline gooey! If you have one nearby, I would 10/10 recommend!

IMG_7491

Life?

I’m not really sure what to categorize this as but a HUGE favorite of mine right now is that I finished the summer physics course I was taking!

Not only did I finish it, but I got an A, and trust me, your girl’s GPA really needs that A!

If ever you are questioning taking a summer course, I would really recommend it. It isn’t always fun because obviously you have due dates and uhm, did no one get the memo? It’s SUMMER! But, it put me just a little bit more ahead in my major AND I got a way better grade than I would have if I were taking it with all my other science courses.

It’s way easier to focus on one class than like 5, and although sometimes it’s very difficult to teach yourself, it’s really worth it in the long run. Plus, the professor is always just an email away, and hopefully, you all get lucky and get a professor that is as willing to work and help as mine was, it truly makes all the difference!

So yay for the rest of a homework and test free summer!

IMG_2861

And that’s it for my monthly favorites! I hope you enjoyed and got to see a little more into what I’m loving for the third month in a row!

Until next time,

Outfit of the Day: Prints and Puddles

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Now, I don’t know about all y’all, but PA has been having the worst weather lately. I feel like out of the past week, at least 5/7 days were gloomy and rainy, and I am just not feeling it anymore.

So for all of the gloom and doom days that might be left for the summer, I put together a cute outfit that will keep your toes dry, your arms warm, and your legs free. Hope you enjoy!

img_2735.jpg

IMG_2736IMG_2737IMG_2738

I feel like there is nothing I love more right now than wearing my favorite color (black) with a pop of my new favorite color (pink). I think that mixing the patterned dress with a fun solid colored jacket is the cutest way to keep you dry from the rain as well as keeping you from getting the chills when coming into the summer’s blasting AC.

I got this dress years ago from H&M and it was such a steal! I can’t remember how much I paid for it but I know it wasn’t much, and it has held up wonderfully throughout time so it was definitely worth it! The jacket; however, is a new purchase from ASOS. I got it on super sale and I’ll try to link it below if it’s still on the site! It’s made of a suede material and is so comfy. It’s the perfect piece to transition into fall and the cooler months as well, so in my opinion, it’s a staple, not to mention totally being on trend! As for the boots, I also got these years ago on super sale from Marc Jacobs. I’m telling you guys, I think I literally paid less than $50 for these bad boys, and even though I don’t get to wear them that often, they are definitely one of my most favorite pairs of shoes that I own!

July ’17 Sephora Play Unboxing

Happy Friday Everyone!

I wanted to share my Sephora Play box with you all again this month as personally, I think this one might be one of the best boxes I’ve gotten yet! So since I went into more detail just about what the box was and what kind of stuff comes inside it, I’m going to skip right to the good stuff..  let’s get to it!

This month’s theme is ‘Beauty Staycation’ and as usual, came with the classic 50 free beauty insider points.

IMG_2718

IMG_2733

But as for the products? The first thing I pulled out was It Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara.

So honestly, I’m always pretty pumped when I get mascara samples in my boxes because I don’t normally wear a lot of mascara so it gives me the opportunity to try different brands really easily.

But all of that aside, I was even more excited for this as I’ve never tried anything from this brand and I’ve only ever heard good things about it.

This mascara claims to lengthen lashes, while giving volume and lift with just one coat. Is this true? I’m not sure yet, but I’m still thrilled to see for myself how this works for me!

IMG_2723IMG_2725

It Cosmetics

Next up was bareMinerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolor in the shade Swag.

Now I’m not usually a fan of nude lip shades. If I’m going to wear lipstick, it’s going to be a statement lip, but I was actually really excited to see this in the box!

Although the shade is a nude for sure, to me, it seems like it has that little something special. It’s a mauve-y, pink color and I can see it looking great on lots of skin colors and tones.

And, as a matte liquid lipstick lover, I was also excited to see this in the box. Nothing beats a matte lip in my book and this little cutie is very welcome into my collection (:

IMG_2726IMG_2727IMG_2728

bareMinerals

Third out of the box was Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray.

Now if anyone remembers, we received a product from this brand last month that I was truly interested in but never used just because it seemed to me like a styling product for your hair (which I never use), but THIS I love!

I love things that could make my hair either 1. smell better, 2. feel softer, or 3. both.

This I have used already and I must say I love the smell of it and I do think that it made my hair feel softer, without it being weighed down or feeling greasy. So that’s an A+ in my book if you ask me!

Also, all of the ingredients are plant-based which makes it a real contender to very soon become one of my favorite brands!

IMG_2719

Briogeo

Next up is Milk Makeup Cooling Water!

So this is very interesting to me. The product says cooling WATER but it comes in a stick.. I was like what the heck?! But it’s really more like a gel that you can use if you’re in need of a quick boost of moisture or right before applying makeup.

Now I don’t think this is supposed to be a primer, just kind of a treat? Like, if you want your skin to feel happy, pop this into the fridge and then swipe it all over to feel cooled and refreshed during the summer months.

This is totally unnecessary but as it’s another brand I’ve never really tried before and I looooove moisturizers, I’m still so excited to try this out and see what it does for my skin!

IMG_2720IMG_2721

Milk Makeup

And now, last, but definitely NOT least is Boscia’s Charcoal Pore Pudding Intensive Wash-Off Treatment.

OMG is all I can say about this one. I’m literally thrilled about it!

First things first, I know that this is supposed to be a sample size but honestly, the amount of product you’re receiving is insane.

Second of all, I loooove masks so of course I was beyond excited to get this. Especially because Boscia is, say it with me now, A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

But anyways, so what does it do and what even is it? Basically, it’s a swirled black and white mask with charcoal to balance oil, fight impurities, and minimizes pores.

Despite loving the swirls and how it looks, to use you basically mix the two and apply a grey layer to the face, wait 15-20 minutes and wash it off with warm water.

SO pumped about this.. if you couldn’t tell..

IMG_2706IMG_2708

Boscia

And then this month’s perfume sample was Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine.

It’s described as fresh with notes of blood and bitter orange as well as geranium, jasmine, sandalwood, and amber woods.

Personally, I wasn’t a fan of this but that’s because I lean towards musky scents always, so I don’t really have much to say about this one but that it came with a cute postcard?

IMG_2731

Atelier Cologne

So all in all? The products speak for themselves, this truly was a box-come-true for me! I love getting these every month and as you can see, every one is totally different. It’s the best.. even Golden Retriever Approved!

But, until next time..

P.S.A. If you haven’t heard, Lana Del Rey’s new album just released today.. go take a listen (:

Story Time: Treetops Tuesday

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

For all of my ‘outdoor-sy adventure lovers’ out there, this one is for you!

My boyfriend and I recently took a day trip to Camelback Mountain Adventures where we climbed their Tree Tops Ropes Course, and let me just tell all y’all.. it. was. so. FUN.

For those of you that might not know what exactly a ropes course is, it’s basically a hybrid of rock/ladder climbing, obstacles that you cross to get from tree to tree, and zip lining. There’s so much more than just that simple summary, but to get an idea, that’s probably good enough.

The course that we went on has five levels, so obviously you start at level one and work your way up. At the end of each course, you have the option to either stop or keep going, so if the idea of going through all five courses is daunting to you, you definitely have options. The only thing is that once you get down, you don’t go back up, so be careful when making the decision if you think you’re just going to take a quick lunch break and then get right back to it!

The course opens every half hour, and this is when your group gets harnessed up, has a brief safety tutorial, and are set free to climb all on your own. The freedom that I feel you have with this course is incredible. You are completely on your own in the trees and the guides will only come assist you if you call them.

Of course you can also go the speed you are most comfortable with but I will also warn that sometimes you may get stuck behind a group that takes their time more than others and that can get boring if you are just standing around waiting to get from one obstacle to another; however, this doesn’t happen too extremely and definitely does not take away from any of the fun for me personally (just another thing to think about)!

So as I mentioned before there are five courses to get through. Of course it starts out super basic but by the fifth course, you’ll be ready for the adventure to end. Trust me on this one.. there were people who had to turn back on the last one as it was too hard! I probably would have too, had I not found a way to zip line across instead of using all of my upper body strength (which is literally 0).

But regardless of how many courses you choose to do, it is a really gratifying experience. You get to spend an entire day in the trees, there are minimal bugs, not a lot of direct sunlight (thank goodness for shade), and really awesome company.

If you have ever thought about doing a ropes course, I would highly recommend it! Like I’ve said a zillion times already, it’s a lot of fun, and truly does not require a lot of upper body strength or a fearless personality at that. You are 100% safe at all times on the course, and even if you are afraid of heights, you will feel secure (even at about 85 feet in the air).

So, in the effort to keep this a short post for once, I’m going to leave you with some pictures that a photographer took while we completed the course. Enjoy, and..

Until next time,

xx.Britani Skye

JSC: Summer Chrome Collection Review

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

I’m so excited to be writing this post right now, you guys really don’t even know.. I basically just received these beauty products in the mail yesterday and was itching all night while I had to take pictures and type out all my feelings to finally bring you this post! So, without further ado, let’s just dive right in to my Jeffree Star Cosmetics Summer Chrome Collection Review!

So as some of you may know, Jeffree Star recently released his Summer Chrome Collection and I just couldn’t resist the hype.

I have never order from this brand before but here’s a very quick opinion of the process just based off of my experience.

I really love the website, it’s vibrant and easy to navigate so although there are a lot of colors going on, you can easily find everything you are looking for as well as the prices being super transparent. So not only are the prices easy to see, but they are affordable as well.

Although I am a lipstick girl at heart, I have wanted nothing more than to try Jeffree’s skin frosts. So that’s exactly what I went looking for, as well as the lip scrubs because, I’m not gonna lie, every time I saw the flavors, I just genuinely could NOT pick one. They are basically three of my favorite things, whether it be from childhood or the present so I splurged and just went for all three (**spoiler: I do not regret it).

So by the time I added everything to my cart, it was almost $100 and I was surprised to see that there was still a shipping and handling fee that I had to pay. Honestly though, it’s super affordable and what I didn’t know is that it is 2-day shipping so you’re order is going to come to you superrrr fast, which as a girl who does not like to wait, I appreciate (:

Then, once the package came, I really didn’t have any expectations as to how the box would look like, but I was so pleasantly surprised with all of the packaging.

The products were delivered in a hot pink box sealed with clear Jeffree Star tape and inside each item was individually wrapped in tissue paper as well as bubble wrap.

I loved this touch because it made me feel like all of my items were super safe while being transported and it also felt like there was thought and time put into not only the product but all of the “background” stuff too.

So, as for my initial thoughts? I’m sure you can guess that so far the products and brand are getting an A+++ for me! So let’s jump into the actual products..

Velour Lip Scrubs

1. Watermelon Gum

Okay so I’m should probably have saved this one for last (because in my opinion it’s the absolute BEST, but I’m not in the business of patience today), but I absolutely LOOOOOVE this!

So this is totally random but literally like 5 years ago I tried a lip scrub from Lush and it basically totally blew my lips up. Yeah, trust me, it was not a pretty picture. So since then I have sworn off lip scrubs, but when I saw these flavors, it was like something overcame me and I just couldn’t say no!

Well let me tell you that I do not regret it. Obviously I’ve only had them for approximately 24 hours but I am most happy to report that there has been no reaction to the product what-so-ever!

So not only does the product feel super gentle and really high quality on the lips, it both tastes and smells amazing.

Throwing it back, this smells IDENTICAL to Bubble Yum watermelon gum from my childhood. Honestly, it tastes like it too. It’s delicious and it’s the most fun bubblegum pink color, perfect for summer!

I’m excited to keep trying this out and to see how this really helps not only my natural lips as well as how it helps with lipstick application (specifically matte liquid lips)!

If you could pick any of the three flavors, I would recommend this one first!

IMG_2679

Velour Lip Scrub – Watermelon Gum

2. Blue Raspberry Sucker

Okay so this one is probably my least favorite, but that’s only if I absolutely HAD to put them in order.

The same goes for this lip scrub as the watermelon one. To put it simply, it WORKS and it’s AMAZING.

Just like the watermelon gum, this smells just like it says: like a Dum Dum Blue Raspberry lollipop!

It’s a light blue shade that tastes just as good as it looks, smells, and sounds, and this is another one I would highly recommend if you’re able to get your hands on it!

The down side to this one is that I did check the JSC website this morning and it’s looking like it’s sold out; however, maybe you might stumble across this sometime/where else and you’ll be able to add it to your collections (:

IMG_2680

Velour Lip Scrub – Blue Raspberry Sucker

3. Orange Soda

And now because this is the last one, I’m sure you already know that this (by default) is my second favorite!

I just loooooove orange soda. I know it might not be everyone’s favorite, but I love to break up my love affair with Coke every now and again with some Fanta/Sunkist and this lip scrub smells just like the first whiff of a freshly opened can.

This one does have an orange-soda-y taste; however, it is probably the one that resembles the flavor the least, but obviously, this doesn’t bother me at all.

It is a light orange color and again, does all of the same wonderful things the first two advertise to do and more.

IMG_2681

Velour Lip Scrub – Orange Soda

Gist of the story for these guys? I love them and I am so happy to have been able to grab them. I know that getting all three is excessive but they are so fun and flavors that I genuinely thought were so unique. I feel like although they are ‘summertime flavors’, I won’t get tired of them and will be using them all throughout the year. Plus, I know I’ll be giving at least one of them to my mom (:

At the price tag of $12, I do think they are worth it. You’re getting a lot of product for your money and it is quality so in my opinion, it is 100% worth it! So check them out if you’re interested or have been in the market for an awesome new lip scrub!

IMG_2671IMG_2673IMG_2676IMG_2678IMG_2683IMG_2685

Skin Frosts

1. Summer Snowcone

Okay, so like I said I really have just been dying to try some JSC skin frosts and that is basically the reason I even picked this one.

I feel like just by looking at it, it is not a shade I would normally just pick on my own; however, I couldn’t be more pleased with the way it performs in person.

First of all, I just adore the name of this product, and I think it is a really unique and fun shade, especially for the summertime. This is definitely a color you can wear no matter the time of year, but for me (as I have really pale skin), this is best when I’m nice and tan.

It has beautiful, gold color payoff and is pigmented as fudge to say the least. It is buildable, but honestly, a little goes a long way and you’ll be practically blinding someone with your highlight with just one swipe onto the cheek bones.

In this case, the blinding highlight is a good thing. Even though it is definitely there because of makeup, it has a natural-ness to it that I really appreciate. It is just beautiful AND glam all at the same time.

Secondly, the amount of product you get is huge (for only $29, shut. up.) and I know I won’t feel guilty when I start dousing my body in this highlighter because I feel like it has the potential to last me basically forever.

And, P.S. I think this looks the most gorgeous as a dusting on collarbones and shoulders, ugh, I die.

But to sum everything up.. I have nothing like this and am so happy to have been able to add it to my collection. Check it out!

Skin Frost – Summer Snowcone

2. Crystal Ball

Now this one is a little more in my comfort zone. It is an icy white highlighter that I feel would go good with my skin tone no matter what the season is (AKA, I don’t need to be kind of tan).

I love this one, even though I might light the Summer Snowcone more, especially as this one seems to have a duo-chrome shift to it.

Just like the previous skin frost, this is so pigmented and beautiful on the skin. I think this one is a little less natural but still very unique and definitely something to add to the collection.

This is another highlighter I had nothing like, so for me, this was worth the purchase. Like I mentioned before, you are getting a lot of product for what you are paying for, and the quality is honestly outstanding, which makes me feel like it’s all worth it in the long run!

All in all, I’m so pleased with the products I got from this collection. I love the metallic, chrome packaging that everything came in and I think that everything I got is super unique and something that will not only last but add to any one’s makeup collection.

I think that Jeffree has an amazing brand that he built and I really can’t wait to see all of the future collections that will be coming out.

I know that I can definitely say that I will 100% be purchasing more from this brand and I hope it has inspired you guys to maybe check some of the products out as well!

P.P.S. Get them before they’re gone!

But until next time..

June ’17 Sephora Play Unboxing & Review

Happy Monday Everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and are ready to dive right on into Monday head on (I know I’m not, but I’m telling myself I am anyways!)

I just got home from a week long vacation and to my surprise I had a Sephora Play box waiting for me on my bed as soon as I walked into the room.

For those of you who might not know about Sephora Play, it is a monthly subscription box. The box costs $10 every month, and in it comes five deluxe sample size beauty products as well as a bonus jonas perfume sample.

All of the products also come in a cute little draw string-eque bag that has a different saying/picture on the front. Honestly, I love these bags but since I’m getting a new one every month, I just have way to many. So I usually end up giving them away to a friend (or my mom) and they can find a use for it!

Besides the products themselves, there is always a small poster that tells you more about each product and exactly what it does, as well as a little card that you can bring to a Sephora at any time in the month to redeem a free 50 beauty insider points.

So enough about all of the things that come with the box, let’s get into the good stuff!

This month’s theme was “Your Summer Starters” and it was just another great box!

Up first? Tarte Tarteguard 20 Tinted Moisturizer

This was a pleasant surprise considering my favorite type of “face makeup” are tinted moisturizers. They are enough to bring some life back to your complexion but not heavy enough to be annoying throughout the day or bring on massive breakouts.

This little tube packs another punch though: SPF 20. This is a must now that it is the summer months and things are definitely starting to heat up. You can just slap on some Tarteguard and not have to worry about harmful UVA and UVB rays attacking your complexion, phew! This month, Sephora’s definitely got our backs (:

Second is.. Dr Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Glow Pad Gradual Glow

Now THAT is a mouthful.

At first, I really wasn’t thrilled about this because it is basically a single wipe that comes individually packaged. Now normally, when I get these boxes, some of the samples will last me multiple uses, so of course I wasn’t super happy that I had only gotten one but as I looked closer (and got past the excitement I have when getting these boxes), I realized there are actually more than just the one I thought I got!

So then of course I was excited again and totally in love with this product because it is specifically for your face, and as someone with skin that is prone to breakouts, I’m always hesitant to ever put self-tanner on my face unless it is specifically designed for that.

These pads are packed with Vitamin D which is supposed to provide nourishment to the skin for long summer days, and it is also a buildable glow which, I don’t know about you guys, but sounds totally good to me!

So basically? I’m pretty thrilled about these. Now maybe when I use my St. Tropez tanner, there won’t have to be such a disconnect from the neck up.. or here’s to hoping anyways!

Get dat Glow

Next on the menu is.. Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow It

Okay, so now believe it or not, I was crazy about this one. I don’t tend to use the hair products that are included in these boxes unless it is some type of hair mask/treatment for in the shower so this one will probably just go in the discard/give to mom pile.

I believe, from the packaging that this is meant to enhance the texture of your hair while also combating things like frizz.

So in theory, this sounds great, but also I have crazy hair and am weary to think that this would actually do anything to keep it tamed on those insanely humid PA days. But also, maybe I’ll give it a try, who knows!

‘Don’t Blow’ Your Chance to Snag This ASAP

Fourth up is.. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in K-Dub

Okay, so this is amazing. ‘Nuff said.

If y’all haven’t figured it out yet, I’m lipstick obsessed. Especially when words like ‘Matte’ and ‘Long-lasting’ are involved, which spoiler alert: they are!

I love that this is like a fuscia/radiant orchid shade and it is PERFECT for summer. Definitely a bright, colorful shade that I personally think would look good on so many skin tones, so kudos to Sephora for throwing this bad boy into the mix!

Also, not to try to be shady or anything but it looks almost identical to the new Kylie Lipkit (June Bug) that she released for her Vacation Collection, so if you are ever unable to get that shade, check out this as an alternative that is just as good!

And last, but certainly NOT least is.. Briogeo Curl Charisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave-In Defining Creme

Alright, so I know I just said how I’m not super crazy about too many hair products in these boxes (and I’m not), but I’m so excited to try this one out.

First of all, it’s a brand I’ve never heard of before so I’m excited to see how it holds its own. Especially since some of my favorite products from these boxes tend to be from brands that are not the ‘mainstream’ ones.

Second of all, you all read the word ‘avocado’ right? Because that’s all I needed to see to be totally sold.

I believe this product is meant to be evenly distributed throughout damp hair, and sort of gives me a ‘leave-in conditioner’ vibe. It is supposed to also combat frizz and leave the hair feeling moisturized, which considering the ingredients, I think that it will live up to the expectation, but of course, I can get back to you all later on that (:

Avoca-don’t Mind If I Do!

And for the *BONUS JONAS* Derek Lam 10 Crosby in Blackout

Okay, so every month they always throw in a sample size perfume and I actually do appreciate these.

I know that at any given time you can walk into a Sephora and ask for a sample size of any perfume you want, so they aren’t really helping me out any, but I’m also the type of girl who buys the same bottle of perfume over and over again so I don’t really have much variation in my non-existent ‘collection’.

So for me? These are fun. Unless you get a bad one, which normally doesn’t happen but I vividly remember getting a linen scented one months and months ago and literally HATING it.

This one, though, is no exception. I LOVED this scent. And honestly? I might even consider buying a full size of it because it’s absolutely intoxicating. It’s under the fragrance family of ‘Earthy and Woody’ and some of the most prominent notes are Osmanthus and Chai Tea Essence.

I also adore the back story behind the brand. Allegedly, Derek Lam is a fashion designer living in NYC (ugh, living the dream more like it), and he debuted a collection of fragrances that are all inspired by different scenes he observed from his Soho studio on Crosby Street.

I mean, how COOL is that?! Because, I think that’s pretty awesome.

10/10 WOULD Recommend

So my final thoughts?

This was another good box!

I’ve been getting the Sephora Play boxes for about a year now and honestly, there are very rarely a box that lets me down. Even if I get a product that I might not love, I know I can always give it to a friend or family and they will find some use for it.

I also think the box is totally worth it cost-wise. I mean $10 for all of this stuff that will sometimes last quite a while is a total steal. Every month is different and you might end up with really popular brand name signature items or you might end up with brand new releases that you get to try out before going and spending an arm and a leg on it. Also, to put it into perspective, if you were to go to Sephora and buy one of these deluxe travel size samples, at the very least it would cost you $10, so you’re getting five things for a very reasonable value. Plus of course you get the joy of receiving a brand new box with new items every month!

It’s a win-win!

So I hope you all enjoyed this different type of post and, again, are having a fabulous Monday (we’re already one day closer to Friday woohoo)!

But, until next time..
