Happy Wednesday Everyone!
Can you all BELIEVE it’s already the last day of May? Because I can’t.
I also totally feel like an old person saying that, but for today I’m going to embrace it, and (more importantly) share a few of my monthly favorites with all of y’all! So, because I have a feeling this post could get a little wordy, let’s just dive right in..
Clothes
Of course we have to start with this category.. it’s kind of what I’m most passionate about in life (minus One Direction ending their hiatus).
So first up on the menu are these absolutely to DIE for pom pom sandals.
I purchased them on a whim back in (probably) March and am finally getting to strut my stuff in them all over the place (blog post to come styling these, so.. stay tuned!)
All I have to say is that they are a total game changer for me in so many ways. I normally wear exclusively monochromatic colors (+ navy) and I also almost never wear sandals (- Birkenstocks, duh), so these are so fun for me to add to my collection! Not to mention they are actually super comfortable! And a conversation starter, fo’ sho. I mean, the first time I wore them was actually to a class and within the first 5 minutes my professor called me out (in a totally cool way) about them.
Oh! And they’re by Sam Edelman too! Which I don’t know about all y’all, but I loooooove me some Sam Edelman. I bought a pair of black, velvet booties years and years ago and have been totally obsessed with the designer ever since. So if you’re looking for an excuse to buy a fun pair of summer sandals or just need a push to splurge a little on your first pair of Edelmans, I’m here to give them my stamp of approval (:
Next up on the menu are a more general category.. “soft”, high waisted, patterned shorts!
Now that’s kind of a mouthful.. But anywayssss these types of shorts have also totally changed the game for me! As previously mentioned, I’m more of a solid colors kind of girl, but I love that with these they give a fun pop of color that you can still pair with a solid t-shirt.
I feel like they are super comfortable, trendy, and make you look like you put a lot more effort into your outfit than you actually did (all things I’m looking for in a quality piece of clothing)!
These specific pair are from ASOS (and are super cheap at that). But who wouldn’t want to slip these on and become the pineapple princess we all know is bubbling underneath the surface? Exactly. Nobody!
Beauty
This month I have fallen back in love with an old time-y favorite.. Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer!
There’s an extra bonus jonas to this one.. there’s SPF 30, so you’re practically getting two for the price of one here. Personally, this might not be as exciting for most people as it is for me, but I’m very guilty of not applying sunscreen like I should so this is my lazy girl dream come true in a tinted moisturizer!
I personally like this because I feel like it gives a very natural coverage that is easily build-able for those that might like a little more coverage. It also doesn’t make me feel greasy or anything throughout the day, so that makes for a very happy camper! And for those that care to know, I use the shade ‘Alaska’. Yeah.. not only am I lazy, but I’m a pale girl too.
The catch with this is that I do definitely think it is somewhat expensive. I’m willing to pay the cash because I don’t commonly wear make up, so it lasts me a really long time, as well as it being really great quality, but even though all of this is true, the cost is definitely something to keep in mind.
Next up are face masks!
Let me just start off by saying that.. I LOOOOOOVE face masks that peel! They are so fun and (even more so) satisfying to peel off and anyone who disagrees is wrong.. I’m not backing down on this (:
But anyways.. my all time favorite is the GlamGlow GravityMud! It traditionally comes in a purple container and when it’s all said and done, dries silver! But if you’re lucky enough, they also have released a limited edition version of this same face mask in collaboration with Sonic the Hedgehog, which is blue and totally cool as well!
Now, keep in mind I think this face mask is really to counteract anti-aging and I’m only a 20 year old girl, but I find this keeps the texture of my skin really soft, even, and smooth, so I do feel it is for all ages! But also keep in mind that this is another kind of expensive product; however, like the Nars tinted moisturizer, it DOES last quite a while! Much longer than I expected anyways! But if you’re in the market for a more affordable option, I totally recommend the other option pictured, the Tony Moly Digda peel off pack!
Now this one might not dry silver but it does have a really pleasant scent that I find really soothing and is just as satisfying to peel off!
Finally, of course I need to include the KKW collection released in collaboration with Kylie Cosmetics.
Personally, I bought this because I support literally anything Kim has her name associated with. But also because I genuinely love practically every single product I’ve ever purchased from Kylie Cosmetics.
That being said, I wasn’t totally sure I was going to love these because I love a matte, statement lip (preferably a dark red), but I’m very pleasantly surprised by them!
They are totally different from anything released by Kylie before (but in a good way)! They are a range of nude liquid lipsticks that do not dry down to a matte finish. So yes, you do need to reapply throughout the day; however, I find these 10x easy to apply and I like that they are so different from anything I own in my lipstick collection.
I also love the packaging of these products! They feel expensive but are actually super affordable. The only downside is that they might not be the best shades to suit every skin color and tone.
But all of that aside, my favorite shade from the collection is ‘Kim’! As soon as I put these shades on, I’m already channeling my inner Kimmie K, and honestly? I’m LIVING for it.
Of course, if anyone is interested I could always do an entire post on these shades swatching and giving all the pros/cons of them all!
Books
Okay so I probably normally wouldn’t even include this category; however, I’m about to go to BookCon this weekend, so I’ve been trying to catch up on some of my favorite authors and their new releases!
This month, my favorite book has been “Always and Forever, Lara Jean” by Jenny Han. It’s the final book in one of her trilogies, and it’s just a feel good story. Now so far, I haven’t finished it so it could take a turn for the worst; however, I know I’m going to enjoy it because I don’t think there has been a Jenny Han book I’ve ever read that I didn’t like!
The series follows along a girl in high school who is a little socially awkward but scores a total hottie in the end, and I really identify with a lot of the main character’s, Lara Jean, traits. Especially in this final book where Lara Jean is going through not getting accepted into the college of her dreams (trust me, I’ve been there). It’s also a good ‘summer’ read. There’s romance and some light drama, but overall it’s just a great story that keeps you wanting more!
So basically.. I MUST MUST MUST recommend to all of you that you read a book by Jenny Han! That’s all. (:
Music
Okay so y’all know I’m of course going to start this section off with two words.. Can you guess them?
Harry. Styles.
Did you guess right?
Anyways, I’m not going to really go into detail because I’ve written an entire blog post on his self-titled album, so if you want to check that out, click here (:
But second to my main man Mr. Styles, is Dear Evan Hansen
For those of you who might not know, I really love Broadway, and my mom casually mentioned this play to me a few weeks ago. Naturally, I originally stuck my nose up because I hadn’t even heard of it (I’ve been living under a rock at college), but just last week I decided to give it a listen.. and after the second song, I was totally hooked.
Two of my personal favorites are ‘Waving Through a Window’ and ‘Sincerely, Me’.
I find these songs to be really relatable. Especially while going through high school. And I really love the raw-ness to some of the songs. I mean ‘Requiem’? Amazing.
I don’t have much to say about the album because I want y’all to listen to it for yourselves, so make your Wednesday a little brighter (or maybe a little sadder, depending on what song you’re listening to..) and have a listen!
Movies
One word. Baywatch.
Four words. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
‘Nuff said.
Life
I’m not really sure if this is even a category but, like I said earlier, I’m just going to embrace it anyways.
This month has been great in terms of feeling like I’m regaining control over my life again. I can focus a little bit more on things that will make me happy and just relax now that school is finished for the summer. Thank G!
And that mostly involves snuggling with my favorite golden retriever puppy (pictured below) Copper. He also has an insta if anyone is interested, link below!
But any who, all of this aside, thank you guys so much for sticking around to continue reading my blog! I’m so grateful to have this space to get out my thoughts, and I’m still so excited for all of the content I have planned for this summer!
But.. until next time,
