Happy Monday Everyone!
As I briefly mentioned in my last post.. I was on vacation!
My boyfriend and I traveled to Cancun, Mexico for a week and it was total heaven, so I thought I’d share a little slice of it with all of you guys!
Also.. here’s some back story into how this vacation even came to be! My boyfriend has just graduated from college and for his graduation present, he really wanted to go on a vacation before he entered the “real world.” So of course for months we went back and forth between island vacations and cruises, when he came across someone who has booked a trip through Apple Vacations.
So basically we took a risk and went with Apple Vacations. For those of you (like me) who might not know what Apple Vacations is, it’s basically a travel agency that books you a trip for super cheap, but the catch is that you don’t really know much about it until you get to the airport, which for some might be super scary. But also, I’m hear to tell you that if you have ever considered it, or are considering it now, to just go for it. We knew nothing but our destination and flight information going into the trip but we ended up at an amazing 4.5 star hotel with no regrets what-so-ever.
So anyyyywayyys, we boarded our flight (Frontier Airlines) and ended up in Mexico just four hours later.
Our hotel was all inclusive and the staff was super attentive. They were always friendly and extremely welcoming which is something I definitely appreciated.
While at the hotel we did things like enjoying the spa, attending guacamole making lessons, and lounging at the beach. The water was beautiful and I have such an appreciation for the ocean (even though sharks low-key terrify me).
One of the days that we spent entirely at the hotel we checked out the spa. We went specifically to book a couple’s massage (cliche, but worth it), and ended up getting a hydrotherapy session and fish therapy thrown in as well.
The hydrotherapy was kind of weird and involved a lot of sweating, but the real fun part was definitely the fishies! So you know the little fish that will “kiss” off all the dead skin from your feet? Yeah. We did that. I don’t think I could stop laughing for like at least 15 minutes straight, and even after that I was still giggling and flinching for the rest of the session. It was one of those experiences that was totally unnecessary and kind of boujee, but puts the biggest smile on your face and creates really unforgettable memories. So in my opinion? The whole thing was totally worth it, and if any of you ever get the chance to ham it up one day at a spa with your SO, jump on the chance!
Besides lounging at the hotel, we also went on excursions to Chichen-Itza and to the Isla of Mujeres.
Chichen-Itza was so fun and learning all about the Mayans and how they lived/performed sacrifices was actually really interesting. I’m not much of a history buff, but when there’s an underlying alien theme involved, you can count me in as all ears!
We also were taken to a cenote that day where we got to go swimming if we chose to. Seth and I braved our fears and jumped off a medium sized cliff into the water and that was one of the most fun things we got to do probably throughout the entire trip! We then swam our little hearts out in the water until it was time to go, and then we boarded the bus and sleepily ventured “home” for the night.
So not only was the ruins a great day, but so was the trip we took to the Isla of Mujeres. We took a catamaran to the island and on the way we stopped to quickly snorkel a little. Now, this was the first time I have ever snorkeled, and let me just tell you all that I was definitely a little (a lot) overwhelmed.
My goggles were definitely not tight enough so while I’m trying to grab onto them on my head, I’m like swallowing and sucking up salt water times a million. The struggle was very, very real. But eventually I got the hang of it and was able to see some pretty cute fishies and some underwater statues, which of course made it all worth it.
But then once we were on the island, we shuttled around in a golf cart (and had a mini photoshoot with some palm trees.. I’m obsessed) and fed some sea turtles until it was time to meet up again and head back.
On the way back we had some time to paddle board or swim again in the ocean if we wanted to and then for the rest of the way we sailed towards the sunset, which was super amazing.
Also, if you have a love for alcohol, I would highly suggest this trip. It’s an open bar and the staff is practically begging you to drink more, so needless to say a lot of people were beyond drunk by the time we docked at night (:
So of course, this is just a mini summary of everything that I got to sit back, relax, and enjoy during our vacay, but I hope you all liked it none-the-less, and as always stay tuned for some pictures below!
Until next time!
